THE WORLD’S BIGGEST AND BEST BIENNIAL MASTERS GAMES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED
The much-loved Pan Pacific Masters Games scheduled for 6 – 15 November 2020 have been cancelled.

Obvioulsly, due to the impacts of the global pandemic COVID-19 on our business.

As custodians of the Pan Pacific Masters Games, the team at Events Management Queensland is passionate about delivering a world-class masters games event.

AUSTRALIAN MASTERS GAMES – ADELAIDE

More than 10,000 athletes and spectators will come together in Adelaide in 2019 for the 17th Australian Masters Games.
This will be the seventh time Adelaide has hosted the Games.
Regarded as one of the premier and largest participation sporting events on the Australian sporting calendar, the Masters Games involves more than 40 different sports for people over the age of 30.
The Masters Games is also known for its wide range of social events, as much as sporting activities, with an extensive program of live music and entertainment providing opportunities for attendees to experience South Australia’s vibrant entertainment scene and premium food and wine.

The last time Adelaide hosted the Masters Games in 2015, the event provided a $12.6 million boost to the State’s economy.

Background

The 17th Australian Masters Games will take place in Adelaide from 5 to 12 October 2019.

The 2019 event was secured by the State Government through the Events Bid Fund. The State Government has invested an additional $70 million in tourism funding to market South Australia nationally and internationally and attract major events and conferences.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Tourism Leon Bignell

I’m happy to announce Adelaide has once again secured the Australian Masters Games, an event which encourages participation in sports at any age and celebrates the lasting friendships it creates.

During the eight day event competitors will take part in a wide range of sports and then let their hair down at a variety of social events, creating a festival atmosphere which will showcase our vibrant city.
The Masters Games always attracts a huge number of participants and spectators, providing a valuable injection to the State’s record $6.3 billion visitor economy.
Many South Australians will remember the Masters Games two years ago and the huge number of visitors it brought to our State.
City and suburban pubs really thrived during the event as participants spilled out of nearby sporting venues to socialise and grab a meal together.
The Government has also pumped an additional $96 million into sport and recreation facilities across the State, including $32 million to upgrade a number of stadiums, ovals and clubs. This has helped to ensure our sporting facilities are ideally placed to host major national sporting events like the Masters Games.

COMPETE ON THE REEF

The Great Barrier Reef Masters Games was first held in Cairns, Queensland in 2013, and has since been held biannually. The next games will be the fourth installment and will be held from 23 to 26 May 2019.
Cairns is the ideal location to host the Games, being one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations with a myriad of local attractions, dining, adventure sports, reef activities and entertainment within close proximity to the city centre.

2,000 masters-aged men and women from Australia, Oceania and South East Asia are anticipated to compete in over 20 individual and team sports across the four days of competition with sports for all masters ages and interests.

The highly anticipated social program will again be held over three fantastic nights at The Jack in the CBD, with themed parties every night, and The Australian INXS Show headlining our closing party!
Forget what TLC said – you MUST go chasing waterfalls when you are in Cairns for the 2019 GBRMG!
One of our favs is Millaa Millaa Falls, about a 1 1/2 hour drive from Cairns on the Atherton Tablelands.
These glorious falls are one of the most photographed falls in Australia – and when you see them you’ll know why.

Hi The Manager,

On behalf of the Southern Cross Football Centre I would like to extend an invitation to all interested ‘experienced’ players to register a team for the +40’s or +50’s men’s 5-a-side football to be run at our facility as part of the 2017 Lismore Masters Games – 22nd to 24th September this year.

The Southern Cross Football Centre is a community initiative of Southern Cross University, promoting education and participation through sport.
The centre boasts a state of the art full size, all weather synthetic pitch with match lighting and full change room facilities to accommodate 4 teams. Teams registering for the 5-a-side competition will enjoy playing in a pristine, world class synthetic surface similar to those found at top European professional clubs with specifically designed netting allowing for 8 x 5-a-Side games to be played at once without the constant chasing of balls to restart play.

The competition will be played along normal 5-a-side football rules with unlimited interchange and no slide tackling.
Our aim in staging this event will be to give an opportunity for an enjoyable, competitive but social football experience where skills can be shown off, laughs had and old rivalries (and friendships) renewed.
Participants in the Masters games can choose to attend any of the entertainment events and they also receive a $20 meal voucher able to be redeemed at any restaurant in the Lismore CBD as well as entry to the Lismore Cup Race Day which is on Thursday 21st September (the day before the games kick off).

Hi Masters

WORLD MASTERS GAMES-AUCKLAND 2017

If you’re planning a visit home anytime soon or want to visit NZ, make it April 2017.
This is when the World Masters Games kick off in Auckland, with more than 25,000 athletes from all over the world expected to take part.
The focus of the event is on amateur participation, so you might want to consider taking part yourself.

WMG2017 Chief Executive Jennah Wootten says the Games always attract a wide variety of competitors from Olympic stars to social teams out for some fun.
However the diversity of participants who have signed up so far, along with the immediate international support for the Games, has humbled organisers.

“Auckland will be the place to be in April 2017, with competition happening at 45+ venues right across the region during the 10-day festival,” Ms Wootten says.

“We already have more than 50 countries involved and competitors range in age from a 25-year-old Australian swimmer to a 95-year-old swimmer from the United States.”

“Many of the participants have shared with us amazing stories of overcoming adversity and using masters sport to recover from life threatening illnesses and personal setbacks.
That’s not only inspiring but it reflects the spirit of sport which the Games embody,” she says.

In supporting the Olympic Games ethos of ‘sport for all’, the goal of the World Masters Games is to encourage participation in sport throughout life.
Competition and camaraderie are equally celebrated.

“We are targeting 25,000 athletes from 100 countries and have already received registrations from as far afield as Australia, Iceland, Malawi, Japan, Poland, Spain, China, Italy and Indonesia,” Ms Wootten says.
